Logo research assignment
My Logo research assignment
I have picked is Nike, a 67 billion dollar company. The Nike logo was created in 1971 by Carolyn Davidson, she was attending Portland State University as a Graphic Design Student. The old Nike logo had the word Nike written on the Nike swoosh logo, the new Nike logo is just the plain Nike swoosh. The Nike design has always been pretty much the same except for having the word Nike on it except for the recent Logo design. Nike has had four different logo designs through its many years of a thriving company. The Nike logo designs DNA is just a “check” like logo called the Nike swoosh. It is simple yet one of the most recognizable logo in the world.

Typographic Notes
Typography
Fonts are the clothing that our ideas wear
- Serif reads better at smallest sizes, sana serif is better for headlines and bigger sizes.
- Founts that are too similar cause ambiguity
- Use upper and lower case letters for optimum clarity, all capital letters are the equivalent of shouting, and are difficult to read
- Alignment: left alignment reads easiest, considered eye flow as it moves down a page
- Emphasis: use these tools with discretion and without disturbing eye flow, 1. italics 2. Bold 3. size 4. color
- Avoid stretching or distorting type
- Many fonts are heavy or light
- The Mac is not a typewriter
- Kerning is the way spacing is done, its the individual spacing of letters
- Tracking is the spacing thats applied to the whole groups of layers
- large text blogs: rags, strive for more consistant spacing , want text layout to look more uniform
